Sheldon College recently celebrated their 9th Annual ‘Arts Academy Awards’ amid spectacular fireworks, red carpet nominee arrivals and an amazing night of superb performances!
The event recognises the best of Sheldon College student works across all Senior College art forms. Student nominees from Visual Art, Music, Vocal Studies, Acting, Dance and Film and Television, arrived in vintage cars and were interviewed as they walked the red carpet in front of more than 750 guests.
After the red carpet arrivals a spectacular fireworks display marked the start of the evening. Guests then enjoyed an elaborate three course meal including an edible painters’ palette of miniature dessert delights before settling in to watch an amazing night of performances and awards.
Students performed on a custom-built revolving stage in the centre of the room. This purpose-built platform gives all the guests an up close and personal live performance experience. Performers were backed by an outstanding 70 plus piece Concert Orchestra and Choir with students as young as Year 4 in one of the very moving pieces of the evening Michael Jacksons’ song ‘Earth Song’. Other crowd favourites on the night included ‘Logical Song’, ‘Gabriel’s Oboe’, ‘Slice of Heaven’ and the full cast finale item ‘Hip to be Square’.
