We are pleased to confirm that Just Dance 2017, Sheldon College’s annual dance celebration, will take place on Saturday 17 June. This year, we are excited to bring the event home to the Sheldon Event Centre for the first time, as part of our 20 year celebrations.

The event will comprise two shows:

  1. Matinee show commencing at 2:00pm
  2. Evening show commencing at 6:00pm

Performances will feature students from the ASTA Dance Academy, ASTA Professionals Program, Classroom Dance and the Senior College Choreography Competition., Each show will feature a range of genres including Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical and Musical Theatre.

The program for each show is different so please take careful note of which show your child is performing in before purchasing your tickets.

The annual 'Get Dancing' Award and presentation, in memory of the beautiful Chloe Saunders, will be presented during the Evening Show. This award is presented to a Sheldon College student who demonstrates, beyond everything else, a passion for dance. We encourage everyone who is attending the Evening show to wear something pink in memory of Chloe.

Musical 2017

"Practically perfect in every way…" is a precisely accurate five-word review of The Australian School of the Arts' production of Mary Poppins, The Broadway Musical.   Weekend Notes On-line Review

The Australian School of the Arts celebrated 20 years of Musical Theatre this year, with our production of the Broadway Musical ‘Mary Poppins’. The two-week season at Redlands Performing Arts Centre sold out in just days, leaving us with no choice but to add an additional performance to meet demand.

The show involved so many firsts for The Australian School of the Arts - our longest season, biggest audience, first time with a digitally projected set, first time using a theatrical flying rig, and also our largest cast requiring over 300 costumes.

The show received excellent local and national reviews including the prestigious theatre publication Stage Whispers. Audiences were amazed at the professional standard of our young performers, with many ranking it on a par with high budget professional touring shows.

2016 Arts Academy Awards

On Saturday 17 September over 300 singers, dancers and musicians took to the stage at the Sheldon Event Centre and wowed their audience of 800 with performances that were of the standard of professional performers. Many mentioned they had to remind themselves during the evening that the performers were in fact current students of Sheldon College. Some of the notable performances were ‘Purple Rain’, ‘Geronimo’, ‘Chicago’ and a wonderful ‘Fame’ Medley including Wearable Art which also saw the first part of the evening ending with a large production of ‘Les Miserables’. A definite roof raiser for the night as was the finale performance of a Beyonce Medley.
