ASTA School of Fashion and Costume Design
ASTA is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new course in 2018 -
The School of Costume and Fashion Design.

The School of Fashion and Costume Design will be run by our Costume Co-ordinator, Michelle Olufson, a qualified Fashion Designer.  The course will offer comprehensive training in Sewing, Pattern Making and Fashion Design. It is specifically aimed at talented students who possess a passion for creating and a vision for a career in any facet of the Fashion Industry.

The course will be unique in that it will offer creative classroom training, complemented with participation in ‘masterclasses’ directed by industry trained specialists. Students will have practical opportunities to develop their skills and showcase their work through the design and construction of costumes and an entire ensemble to be worn by one of the presenters at the Arts Academy Awards.

The course will be comprised of three major units:

Unit 1: Sewing

Use of machines, sewing techniques, fibres and fabrics, garment elements and construction, preparation of a portfolio of samples.

Unit 2: Pattern Making

Making of a basic personal pattern, making up a garment with a personal couture fit, preparation of a portfolio of samples.

Unit 3: Fashion Design

Students will be designing and constructing a full outfit for a presenter for the Arts Academy Awards night.
